Papa Cristo’s C&K Importing Company calls itself the Athens of Los Angeles, and for good reason. This restaurant and market has been the largest purveyor of Greek products in L.A. for over 60 years. Dozens of Greek wines line the west end of the store. Across the way, the deli cases display homemade hot pies, imported cheeses, fresh cuts of lamb, and over twenty varieties of its signature baklava. The center space is densely packed with pantry items such as olive oils, jarred vegetables, spices, and more. We’ve heard that you shouldn’t shop for groceries on an empty stomach, so we suggest hitting up the market after a nice meal at the taverna. You might also consider visiting Papa Cristo’s on a Thursday night, when it has its signature Big Fat Greek Thursday Night Dinner – complete with food, wine, music, and dancing for a reasonable price. Dinner, a show, and grocery shopping in one! We’re so there!
